Response to devastating beauty
It was a very well composed article and it was also very
effective. The part that talked about the ads and how they have changed
over the years is a very emotional invoking example. In 1950 the
"hot" girls were 5 foot 4 and 150 and now the "hot" girls 5
foot 10 and 110. They got taller and skinnier. The bone features
are more prized now then beauty some would say. I completely agree that
the media has compounded the problem by putting these “hot" girls in
magazines, commercials and movies. It is creating an unrealistic vision
for a lot of girl to shoot for that they cannot attain. One fact that was presented that I didn’t
know was the part about thinking about dieting and fat has been shown to
actually change the chemistry in your brain and thought pattern which negatively
affect the girls.
